Dermal Filler

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are a popular, non-surgical treatment used to smooth wrinkles, add volume, and enhance facial features. Whether you want to plump up lips, restore cheek volume, or smooth deep lines, dermal fillers offer an immediate solution with minimal downtime. The procedure is quick (usually under 30 minutes) and results last from months to years, depending on the filler type and area treated.

Types of Dermal Fillers

Different fillers are made from substances that occur naturally in the body, like hyaluronic acid (HA), or from synthetic materials. Your healthcare provider will help determine the best filler for your needs:

Hyaluronic Acid (HA): Adds volume and hydration. Results last 6 months to a year. e.g., Restylane®.

Calcium Hydroxylapatite (CaHA): For deeper wrinkles, with results lasting around a year. e.g., Radiesse®.

Poly-L-lactic Acid (PLLA): Stimulates collagen production, with results lasting up to two years.

Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA): Offers long-lasting results by adding volume and keeping skin firm. e.g., Bellafill®.

The Procedure: What to Expect

Consultation: Your healthcare provider will assess your facial features and goals, discuss options, and plan the treatment.

Treatment: The procedure is quick and typically done in a medical office or medspa. A local anesthetic may be used for comfort.

Aftercare: Mild swelling or bruising is common but fades within a few days. Results are visible immediately and improve over time.
